Set List – 05/21/17

highlights:

My favorite part of last weekend was the band. Everyone playing was God-ordained and I don’t say that lightly. It has been difficult finding musicians to play on Sunday mornings, especially as summer approaches. This week in particular was notably more difficult. I made over 30 phone calls to different musicians in the area and no one was available. On Thursday, my wife wisely commented that perhaps God wanted to do something different on Sunday morning than what I had planned so I surrendered the whole band situation over to Him. Then, almost instantly and randomly, I was contacted by musicians who were available to play that weekend. By Friday, I had a bigger and more skilled band than I was orginially expecting! When we all met together to rehearse and play on Sunday morning, I couldn’t help but smile. The music sounded fantastic, everyone worked well together and the congregation really connected with the songs.

The whole experience taught/reminded me of God’s mercy and faithfulness. No matter how hard or frustrating life gets, we can be sure that He is working everything out for our good (Romans 8:28). He doesn’t require me to “have it all together” in order to worship Him. All He requires from me is a sincere heart that desires to bring Him praise no matter what. Jesus makes worship possible; not the music, band or even me. I thank God for the mercy shown towards me through the cross of Jesus so that I can approach His throne with confidence (Hebrews 4:16) and offer whatever I have as worship to Him.
